ARC members preparing Interreg application for QLAIR

ARC members engaged in the successful QLAIR project are preparing an Intereg. application to bring the findings one step further. During the autumn 2009 the QLAIR project partnership has discussed taking the findings from the current project to a more concrete level, closer to implementation in the cities and regions.
The Intereg 4C Joint Technical Secretariat launched its call for capitalisation projects in December 3-4 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The aim of capitalisation projects is to make best practises in previous Intereg projects become a reality in European Regions.

The ARC members have made this kind of best practise experiences in the previous STRAIR project and in the QLAIR project and are well suited for a capitalisation project.

The QLAIR project will continue with all partners, and the Intereg application will concern a subproject lead by El Prat de Llobregat from the Barcelona Airport Region. A project outline has been made and a provisional project budget is under discussion. Each one of the partners is now looking into their specific actions based on the findings from the QLAIR project. ARC will be responsible for disseminating the results and bring the findings to the European level. El Prat de Llobregat and Viladecans (Barcelona), Flanders Region (Brussels), City of Vantaa (Helsinki), Mazovia Province (Warsaw), Département d´Essonne (Orly), Fingal County Council (Dublin) and ARC has agreed to participate in the final preparation. Both A.V.A.R. in Prague and Sigtuna in Stockholm are considering becoming partners in the project application.

The application will be submitted to the Intereg 4C Secretariat in the beginning of March. The partnership welcomes other cities and regions, with an interest in improving the quality of life around their airports, to participate in finalising the application. ARC members will find the documents available on the members page for the QLAIR project. Other cities and regions are welcome to contact the ARC Secretariat by phone or by e-mail info@airportregions.org
